Verdict in Inspector Mamun murder case deferred

A Dhaka court today fixed March 18 for delivery of judgment against Robiul Islam alias Arav Khan and seven others in a case filed over the killing of Special Branch (SB) Inspector Mamun Imran Khan in July 2018.
Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court set the date on Wednesday (March 5) as the verdict was not ready to be delivered today.
The other accused are the victim’s friend Rahmat Ullah, Arav Khan's wife Suraiya Akhter Keya, Swapan Sarkar, Didar Pathan, Mizan Sheikh, Atiq Hassan and Sarwar Hossain.
Earlier, the court recorded statements from 26 prosecution witnesses, including the complainant of the case.
Police inspector Mamun Emran Khan was killed at a flat in Banani in the capital on July 8, 2018. His charred body was recovered from a forest in Gazipur on the next day.
On April 11, 2019, DB Inspector Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet against Arav Khan and seven others.
