Illegal wealth: Case filed against Golam Dastagir, wife 

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed separate two cases against former Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi and his wife Hasina Gazi on charges of acquiring assets outside known sources of income.

ACC Director General Akhter Hossain confirmed the matter on Wednesday (March 5).

According to a case document, former Narayanganj-1 MP and former minister Golam Dastagir Gazi acquired illegal assets worth Tk 23 crore in his name, and made suspicious transactions worth Tk 258 crore in 6 banks. 

The ACC also said it has received information about Gazi's assets worth Tk 448 crore. Of this, his acceptable income is Tk 424 crore.

Akhter also said that a case has been filed against his wife Hasina Gazi on charges of acquiring assets worth Tk 9.70 crore without known sources of income.

Suspicious transactions worth Tk 31.69 crore have been found in five bank accounts of her, he said.
