A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrant against e-commerce platform Qcoom’s chairman Md Ayub Ali and its chief executive officer (CEO) Md Ripon Miah in a fraud case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam passed the order on Thursday (March 6) as the accused could not appear before the court for today’s hearing, complainant’s counsel Sakibul Islam said.
Complainant Mehedi Hasan Foysal, owner of 3S Corporation BD, made an order of Tk 82.44 lakh from Qcoom’s “Big Billion Returns” campaign on June 27, 2021. He was supposed to get the products under his order within 21 to 25 working days, but the online shopping platform failed to do this.
Foysal on August 13, 2024, filed the case against Qcoom’s chairman and its CEO and the court asked Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to launch an investigation into the matter.
PBI in its investigation found the allegations brought against the duo true and filed report in this regard. The court on January 28 accepted the PBI report and had summoned the accused to appear before it today.
