The condition of the girl, who was allegedly raped in Magura last Wednesday, is very critical, said Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman, Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
“The eight-year-old is now under treatment at DMCH. A four-member medical board has been formed to oversee her treatment,” the DMCH director said while briefing journalists around 11:45am on Saturday (March 8).
The medical board comprises specialists from the departments of pediatrics, pediatric surgery, anesthesia, and gynecology, he cited.
The child, a third-grader, had been visiting her elder sister’s house in Magura town during the school break on the occasion of holy Ramadan when the incident occurred. Her mother said someone found the girl alone at the house and raped her.
On Thursday morning, the girl’s sister’s mother-in-law took her to a hospital, after which neighbours informed the child’s parents, who live in a different upazila of the district.
According to doctors at Magura Sadar Hospital, the girl was bleeding from her vagina, had strangulation marks on her neck, and scratches on various parts of her body.
