Private security personnel getting power to arrest

Private security personnel will work as an auxiliary police force to ensure security in various markets and residential areas of Dhaka on the occasion of Eid, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali has said.

He also said that the auxiliary police force will have the authority to arrest.

The DMP commissioner made these remarks at a press conference at the DMP Media Center on Saturday (March 8) afternoon.

“Dhaka Metropolitan Markets and shopping malls generally remain open until late at night on the occasion of Eid. Auxiliary police force will be deployed in various residential areas, shopping malls and markets of Dhaka to ensure security,” the DMP commissioner said.

He said, “Private security personnel deployed in various residential areas, markets and shopping malls will be made to work as an auxiliary police force. They will have the authority to arrest. This manpower has been appointed under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Act. They will work to ensure security before and after Eid.”
