Home adviser for taking strict action against women harassment, rape

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retired) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that law enforcement agencies have been instructed to take strict action against harassment and rape of women.
The home affairs adviser visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on Sunday morning (March 9) to see the child who was raped in Magura.
Later, he inquired about the child’s treatment and directed the hospital authorities to ensure the highest medical care to her.
The home affairs adviser said, “A case has been filed against four people at Magura Sadar Police Station in connection with the rape and attempted murder of an eight-year-old child in Magura. Police have arrested four accused in the case.”
“The home ministry remains vocal about ensuring that the culprits do not get any relief,” he said.
He further said that those involved in the recent rape incidents, will be brought to justice and strict punishment will be ensured for them.
“I have instructed law enforcement agencies to take stern action against sexual harassment and rape of women. A list of all previous incidents of violence related to women will be compiled and then the relevant reports will be submitted to the court through a quick investigation,” Jahangir Alam said.
