Travel ban imposed on Salman F Rahman, family members

A Dhaka court imposed a travel ban on Salman F Rahman, the former private industry affairs adviser to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and four family members including his wife Syed Rubaba Rahman.
The three other people, who are also facing travel ban, are Salman’s son Shayan Fazlur Rahman, brother and Beximco Group chairman Ahmed Sohail Fasihur Rahman, Fasihur’s son Ahmed Shahryar Rahman.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Monday (March 10), accepting a petition filed by Md Joynal Abedin, deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Deputy Director (public relations) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Akterul Islam confirmed the information.
The ACC in its plea said the anti-graft body is probing allegations against Salman and his close ones of becoming defaulter by choice of loan of Tk around 36,000 crore and laundering hundred of crores abroad.
“Travel embargo should be imposed on them for the sake of proper investigation,” the ACC plea said.
