Protesters clash with police, several injured

Protesters under the banner ‘Bangladesh against Rape and Repression’ started a procession toward the Chief Adviser's residence at the State Guest House Jamuna to submit a memorandum on Tuesday afternoon.

At one stage, scuffling took place between the policemen and the protesters. Several policemen were injured in that time.

The march started at 3:45 pm on Tuesday (March 11) towards the office of the Chief Adviser with nine demands, including the removal of the home adviser and the formation of a speedy trial tribunal. When they reached Bangla Motor via Shahbagh, the police blocked them with barricades. During this, they locked clashes with the police. Several policemen were injured.

At that time, the protesters said that incidents of murder, rape and oppression are continuously happening all over the country. The home adviser has failed to prevent this. He must be removed quickly. These oppressions must be tried by forming a speedy trial tribunal. At the same time, the trial of all the rape cases, including the recent rape cases, should be brought under the law.
