Attack on two girls over smoking: Rinku sent to jail 

A Dhaka court has ordered to send Rinku to jail as he was accused of attacking two girls over smoking and allegedly physically harassing them at a tea stall in the capital’s Lalmatia area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masuma Rahman passed the order on Tuesday, rejecting his bail plea.

Police produced Rinku before the court, seeking his detention under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Meanwhile, the defense lawyer appealed for his bail.

The incident took place on March 2, 2025, at a tea stall at Lalmatia, where two young women were smoking. An elderly man objected to their smoking, which led to a heated argument.

The situation quickly escalated, and Rinku reportedly misbehaved with the women and attempted physical harassment.

On March 10, police arrested Rinku in connection with the incident.
