The acting vice principal of Habibullah Bahar College, Saifur Rahman Bhuiyan, 50, was hacked to death at an apartment in the capital’s Uttarkhan area.
Uttarkhan police arrested two people-Nazer and Rupa- in the connection from Faridpur on Tuesday.
Uttara Division Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Md. Muhidul Islam confirmed the matter.
He said that the deceased’s brother Mujahidur Rahman Bhuiyan filed a complaint as the plaintiff. Later, the police started an investigation. Suspicion arose around a young man and a young woman aged 20-22 in that flat.
Uttarkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ziaur Rahman said, “Saifur Rahman Bhuiyan, vice-principal of Habibullah Bahar College, was murdered in a rented house in Uttarkhan's Puran Para area.
The couple named Rupa and Nazer moved into the flat a few days ago. It is alleged that they committed the murder and fled on Monday morning.”
Meanwhile, the autopsy of the vice-principal's body was completed at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue on Tuesday.
Later, the police handed over the body to the relatives.
