Industrialist Syed Manzur Elahi passes away

Apex Group Chairman Elahi passed away on Wednesday morning (March 12) at a hospital in Singapore.

He was 83.

He breathed his last at 9:31am local time (7:30pm BST) at the hospital. He was suffering from old age complications.

Elahi, chairman of Apex Group, was a key figure in Bangladesh’s business sector. He was also appointed adviser to the caretaker government of Bangladesh, twice (1996 and 2001).

Earlier, on May 26, 2020, Syed Manjur Elahi's wife and founding principal of Sunbeams School, Nilufar Manjur Chowdhury, died of coronavirus. They started their married life in 1966.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Syed Manzur Elahi.
