‘Efforts being made so that Rohingyas can celebrate next Eid in their homeland’

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has said to the Rohingya community that “We are making maximum efforts so that you can celebrate the next Eid with your relatives in your homeland, even if it is not possible this Eid.”
The Chief Adviser said this while speaking before an iftar party in Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar on Friday.
The Chief Adviser said, “The UN Secretary-General expressed his desire to have Iftar with you despite his busy schedule, which is a real blessing for us. Today, he is having Iftar with you, which is a symbol of his sincerity and compassion for you.”
He also said, “We are relentlessly trying to arrange for your return to your country as soon as possible.”
Prof Yunus delivered his speech in Chattogram’s regional language for better communication with the Rohingyas.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged the international community to show that solidarity through actions and concrete support for the Rohingya people and their Bangladeshi host communities.
