A Dhaka court has rejected a bail plea filed by former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder in a graft case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Sunday.
Sadhan's counsel pleaded for bail in the case, but the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) vehemently opposed the plea.
After hearing both the parties, the court scrapped the bail plea and sent the accused back to jail.
The ACC filed the case on December 19 for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 25.34 crore and keeping those under his possession. ACC assistant director Afnan Jannat Keya filed the case against the former minister. The court on January 29 showed Sadhan arrested in the case.
