A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Kishoreganj-6 lawmaker Nazmul Hassan Papon and his family members over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Sunday, allowing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The court imposed a travel ban on Papon, his wife Roksana Hasan, daughters Suneya Rahman, Rushmila Rahman, son Rafsan Hasan and son-in-law Rakin Al-Mahmud.
ACC deputy director (public relations) Akterul Islam said the agency is probing allegations against Papon, also the former president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), and his family members of embezzling government money and amassing illegal wealth.
“They have undeclared properties at home and abroad. They may try to flee the country and hand over the ill-gotten properties to evade the justice. So, travel ban should be imposed on them,” the ACC plea said.
