Shahjahan Khan put on four-day remand

A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court placed former shipping minister Shahjahan Khan on four-day remand in a murder case filed for killing a man named Rafiqul Islam in Badda during July uprising.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the order on Monday morning (March 17).
Earlier, the investigating officer of the case, Police Inspector Shafiul Alam of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, produced him before the court seeking 5-day remand.
According to the case statement, On July 19, 2024, Rafiqul Islam participated in the anti-discrimination student movement near the North Badda Bismillah Hotel under Badda police station in Dhaka. He was shot and injured there. Rafiqul later died while undergoing treatment.
