DMP issues 14-point security guideline on Eid vacation

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a set of 14 directives to ensure overall security in the capital ahead of the Eid ul Fitr and during the Eid vacation.
According to a DMP statement, the law enforcement agency formulated the directives to ensure security of households, shopping malls and establishments.
Following is the outline of the 14-point directive:
1. The security guards assigned to the security of homes, apartments, banks, insurance companies and various institutions and shops should strengthen their vigil and enforce a 24-hour surveillance against any illegal intrusion.
Instead of giving leave to all officers and employees of an institution for Eid vacation simultaneously, a part of them can be kept engaged to perform duties or oversee the institutions overall security system.
2. Before leaving the home and institution, the doors and windows should be properly locked. Multiple locks can be used if necessary. If the doors and windows are in a weak condition, they should be repaired and secured as much as possible.3. Adequate number of CCTV cameras should be installed in houses, various institutions and shops and it should be ensured that the installed CCTV cameras are operational.
4. Auto-locks and locks with security alarms can be used on the main doors of houses.
5. Arrangements should be made to keep the surroundings of houses and institutions adequately lit at night.
6. Money, valuables and documents should be left in a safe place or in the custody of close relatives. If necessary, the help of a bank locker can be taken.
7. Before leaving the house, all the neighbors/residents of neighboring flats who will be staying in Dhaka should be requested to keep an eye on neighbours houses and residents of the temporarily vacant should be in touch with them by phone.
8. Tenants should inform the house owners in advance if they leave their houses on the occasion of Eid.
9. The security personnel of the house or institution should be warned and necessary instructions should be given so that no one can enter the house or institution without permission.
10. Before leaving the house or institution, ensure that the lights, fans, other electrical line switches, water taps, gas stoves, etc. are turned off.
11. The garage of the house or institution should be kept secure.
12. If there is a tree near the window/door of the house, unwanted branches should be cut so that criminals cannot enter the house using the branches of the tree.
13. If a suspicious person is seen roaming in front of the neighborhood/house, the local police outpost and police station should be informed immediately.
14. If any unpleasant incident is occurred or is likely to occur in the neighborhood/house during Eid, local police outposts and police stations should be informed immediately.
