A major change has come to the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act.
The Advisory Council has passed an amendment to the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act, providing for a maximum seven-year jail for rape under a false promise of marriage.
The Advisory Council passed the amendment, providing for such a provision on Thursday (March 20).
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam gave this information at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
To reduce corruption and ensure transparency in government works’ tenders, from now on, 100 percent of works will be done through tenders. Earlier 60 percent of works were done through tenders, the Advisory Council also took the decision.
