A group of students brought out procession at Dhaka University and Rajshahi University demanding ban of Awami League as a political party.
The protest rally and processions were held at Dhaka University and Rajshahi university campuses around 1:45 am and 2:30am respectively.
The feedback has come after the interim government's Chief Advisor, Professor Muhammad Yunus, expressed his position that there was no plan to ban the Awami League.
Following this, the protests took place at DU and RU at midnight. Meanwhile, people were also seen protesting the chief advisor's statement.
Earlier, Muhammad Yunus made it clear that the interim government that he heads has no intention of banning the Awami League.
Yunus made the remarks during a meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna with a delegation led by Comfort Ero, the president and chief executive of the International Crisis Group (ICG) on Thursday (March 20).
Mosaddek Ali Ibn Muhammad, a student of DU's Bangla department, said, "Now the leaders of power-seeking political parties are sheltering the Awami League. Bangladesh's people have decided to ban the Awami League on August 5. Awami League must be banned."
