DMP nabs 393 persons in 48 hours

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) nabbed a total of 393 individuals operating patrols and checkposts as parts of its security arrangements across the city in last 48 hours, according to the DMP's Crime Command and Control Center.
In the two days, it operated 1,334 patrol teams and 142 checkposts, and the patrol teams performed duties in two shifts for public safety under its 50 police stations from 12:01am to 11:59pm on Thursday and Friday.
Out of these, 680 teams performed duties at night while 654 teams performed their duties during the day.
The patrol teams include 958 mobile patrol teams, 146 foot patrol teams, and 230 motorcycle patrol teams.
In addition, 142 police checkposts are operated by the DMP at various important and strategic locations to enhance security in the metropolitan area.
In the last two days, 393 people involved in various crimes were arrested in the combined operations conducted in different areas of the city.
The arrestees include 33 robbers, 22 professional active muggers, four extortionists, 18 thieves, 73 individuals wanted in previous cases, and 55 identified drug dealers.
In the operation, the law enforcers seized different home-made weapons, 10 rounds of pistol bullets, two motorcycles, 21 mobile phones, a private car and Taka 5,62,600 in cash.
Additionally, the drugs recovered included 749 pieces of Yaba tablets, 7.290 kilograms of ganja, 20 grams of heroin, six bottles of Phensedyl, seven bottles of foreign-made liquor, seven cans of bear.
In the last two days, 116 cases were filed with different police stations of DMP in these connections.
