“Eid processions like Sultanate period to be held in Dhaka”

During the Sultanate period and later during the British period, Eid processions added extra joy to the people of Dhaka. The Dhaka North City Corporation is taking the initiative to revive this culture.

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said this through a Facebook post on Sunday (March 23).

He said, we have taken some initiatives to make this Eid more beautiful for city dwellers. We are more or less aware of Dhaka's traditional Eid processions. Eid processions were organized during the Sultanate period and later during the British period. Dhaka North City Corporation is taking the initiative to revive this culture from now on.

As part of this initiative, an Eid congregation will be held at the field next to the China Friendship Conference Center (the old field of the trade fair), he added.
