11500 tonnes of rice arrive from India

A vessel carrying 11,500 tonnes of parboiled rice from India has arrived at Chattogram Port under an open tender agreement.
The Ministry of Food confirmed the information in a press release on Monday (March 24).
The ship, MV DDS Marina, docked as part of the government’s plan to import 4.5 lakh tonnes of rice from India in nine phases under the open tender agreement. So far, a total of 2,85,769 tonnes of rice has arrived in the country under this arrangement, according to the press release.
Authorities have completed testing rice samples, and preparations for unloading are currently in progress. Necessary steps have been taken in this regard, it added.
