Home Secretary Nasimul Ghani has commented that the law and order situation in Bangladesh is stable and rumors are being spread about declaration of a state of emergency.
He said this in response to a question from journalists at the Secretariat on Monday (March 24).
He said, “This is gossip. I have no comments on it.”
Earlier, rumors spread on social media that a state of emergency was being declared on Sunday night.
In particular, supporters of the ousted Awami League were seen spreading various types of information.
At the same time, some claimed that ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would soon return to Bangladesh.
Describing the information as ‘gossip’, the Home Secretary said, “I have no information about the deterioration of the law and order situation. There are normal risks. The situation is under the control of the government. We are alert, the police are alert, We are all trying to maintain the stability that we have.”
He said that Australia will complete the visa process for Bangladeshi citizens from the High Commission in Dhaka after Eid.
