A Dhaka court has ordered to attach 178 bighas of land owned by Nabil Group chairman Md Aminul Islam, his wife Ishrat Jahan and their four companies, over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Monday.
Of the plots, 132 bighas were in the name of Aminul, 23 bighas in Ishrat’s name, 13 bighas under the name of Nabil Pharma, one bigha in name of Anwar Feed Mills, nine bighas in name of Nabil Great Homes Limited and another eight shatak under the name of Nabil Naba Foods.
According to the case documents of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), there are allegations of money embezzlement and laundering against Aminul Islam, his family members and the companies owned by him.
These immovable properties owned by the accused can be handed over to evade the ongoing investigation against them and that is why these should be attached, the ACC plea said.
