Burning garbage in dump yard won’t be allowed: Environment Adviser

Forest and Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that burning garbage in dump yard won’t be allowed in any way.

She said this while addressing reporters after visiting Matuail Sanitary Landfill in the capital on Saturday noon (April 5).

The adviser said, “Various initiatives will be taken to protect the livelihoods and health of people in the area surrounding the Matuail Sanitary Landfill. It is not possible to completely remove this garbage dump from Matuail anytime soon. To improve the situation, two steel mills adjacent to the area will be ordered to shut.”

She also announced the formation of a committee to improve the air quality in the capital.
