Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that alternative livelihood opportunities will be created for protection and restoration of the Saint Martin’s biodiversity.
The adviser said this while presiding over a meeting held at ministry’s conference room at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital on Sunday (April 13).
She said that the government is taking various initiatives to ensure that limiting tourism on Saint Martin’s Island does not harm the livelihoods of its local community.
To identify suitable alternative employment, a working team has been formed with the Director General of the Department of Environment (DoE) as convener, she said.
