Staff Correspondent: The Government has decided to appoint M. Shameem Ahsan, currently serving Ambassador to Brazil as the new Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the UN offices in Geneva and Vienna.
A career diplomat, M. Shameem Ahsan belongs to the 1984 batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre.
In his distinguished diplomatic career, other than his current appointment Ahsan undertook Ambassadorial assignments in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Brunei Darussalam.
He also served in Bangladesh High Commission, New Delhi, Bangladesh Permanent Mission to UN in Geneva and New York in various capacities Ambassador.
Shameem Ahsan obtained an MBBS from Rajshahi Medical College.
He completed French language course from Centre Audio Visuel de Langues Modernes (CAVILAM), Vichy and diplomatic training from the Institut International d’Administration Publique, Paris, France.
He obtained diploma in Diplomacy and Administration of International Organizations from the Jean Monnet-Sceaux Law Faculty of the University of Paris XI in 1988.
He is married and has two sons.
