RAB boss grilled for two hours

Secretariat Correspondent: The government-formed probe committee investigating the seven murders in Narayanganj on Monday grilled the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) Mokhlesur Rahman over the murders.

 

The DG has appeared before the committee at about 2.35 pm at the Secretariat of the Public Administration Ministry.

 

Grilling was started shortly after his arrival at the Secretariat while he was gilled for nearly two hours.

 

“I informed the investigating committee about what was true for the Narayanganj sensational seven murders,” the RAB DG told newsmen while coming out from the secretariat after interrogations.

 

“I also told the committee that the RAB headquarters were not aware of the murder of seven people in Narayanganj before the murder incidents,” DG added.

 

On September 21, the RAB Director General Mokhlesur Rahman had also clarified that they were not aware of the murder of seven people in Narayanganj beforehand.

 

DG had also reinstated their stances at that time in this regard saying, "The Rab headquarters does not want acquittal of any of its personnel involved in the sensational seven murders.

 

Mokhlesur Rahman has been grilled over the murders led by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and the head of the investigating committee Shahjahan Ali Mollah.

 

On September 28, the DG has been asked to appear before the committee today, sources confirmed risingbd.com on Sunday.

 

After the murders incident, the probe committee had also grilled more than five hundreds of people over the murders including- Narayanganj Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, AL MP Shamim Osman, the then DC, District Police Super, Additional DG  of RAB Colonel Ziau Ahsan, the suspended RAB men and the aides of Nur Hossen, the prime accused of the murders.

 

On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver, were abducted by miscreants from Fatullah area of the city.

 

Hours after their abduction, senior lawyer at district Judge`s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.

 

Three days later, six bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya while the other body was recovered from the river in the following day.
