Staff Correspondent: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko has died at a hospital in Malaysia on Saturday.
Koko breathed his last around around 12:30pm (Bangladesh time) following a cardiac arrest, Shamsuddin Didar, a staff of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia`s media wing, confirmed to risingbd.com.
Following the 1/11 political changeover in 2007, Khaleda and her sons—Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman Koko-- were arrested in different graft charges.
After their release on parole in 2008, Koko flew to Thailand for treatment with his family members. Later, he moved to Malaysia and had been staying there.
A Dhaka court on June 23, 2011 had sentenced Koko to six years’ rigorous imprisonment in a case filed by Anti Corruption Commission on March 17, 2009 for siphoning off more than Tk 20 crore to Singapore.
Khaleda met Koko in Singapore in 2012.
