Mamata leaves Dhaka

Special Correspondent: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, terming her three-day visit to Bangladesh as historic, left Dhaka on Saturday night.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran and other high ups of the foreign ministry were present at the farewell at Shahjalal International Airport.
An Air India Flight carrying Ms. Banerjee and her entourage members, mostly eminent cultural personalities, cabinet colleagues, members of parliament and business leaders, took off around 9.40 pm.
Ms Banerjee arrived in Dhaka on Thursday on a three-day visit at the invitation of Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali to join the International Mother Language Day programmes on February 21 as a guest of honour. It was Mamata Banerjee`s first visit after taking office as the chief minister of West Bengal.
During her visit, she paid homage to the language martyrs at the Central Shaheed Minar early Saturday.
She also called on President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and joined a Bangladesh-India Business Meet and had a meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam and also joined a High Tea hosted by Finance Minister AMA Muhith in honour of the chief minister and her delegation.
She paid homage to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city on Friday.
