Liu Yandong now in Dhaka

Diplomatic Correspondent: Chinese Vice-Premier Liu Yandong has arrived here in Dhaka today (Sunday) on a three-day official visit.

The Chinese Vice-Premier was landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5.15 pm by a special air flight, foreign ministry sources confirmed.

Foreign Minister A H Mahmood Ali received the Chinese vice-Premier at the airport.

During her three-day stay in Dhaka, she is scheduled to call on President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali.

Sources said during the visit, Bangladesh may seek Chinese assistance in infrastructure development and cooperation in various fields while Ms. Liu Yandong will discuss with the Bangladesh leadership to advance high-profile visits between Dhaka and Beijing in the next few months.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and an Exchange Note will be signed between Bangladesh and China after call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Reportedly, she was in a meeting with the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina while the report was filed this night.
