Bangabandhu, independence and Bangladesh are identical: Hanif

Staff Correspondent: Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Saturday afternoon has said that "Bangabandhu, independence and Bangladesh are one and the identical".  

He made the statement while speaking at a programme marking 40th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman titled `Bangabandhu`s Life and Religion` at Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque of the city.

"Bangladesh had become independent as he (Bangabandhu) born here. We got a map of independent and sovereign country and a red-green flag only for him," said the AL leader.

"Bangabandhu struggled for independence during 23 years of Pakistani tyranny. He had to spend in jail for 14 years out of 23 years. He tolerated all the repression and persecution and brought liberation for the country`s people at last. On his call, the country became independent after nine-month-long bloody war."

 

"Bangabandhu was a pure Muslim. Any other statesman did not do the jab like him for the wellbeing of Islam.  He founded Islamic Foundation for the publicity and expansion of the Islam," Hanif said.
