DIG Prisons at Dhaka Central Jail

Staff Correspondent:  DIG (Prisons) Golam Haider is now at Dhaka Central Jail ahead of execution of war crimes convicted Jamaat-e-Islami leader Motiur Rahman Nizami.

 

The DIG entered the jail around 11.00am, but did not talk to journalists.

Earlier on Monday night, the full verdict of the Supreme Court, that has rejected the review petition of Motiur Rahman Nizami, was read out to him at Dhaka Central Jail.

Senior jail super Jahangir Kabir read out the verdict to Nizami.

Nizami has been shifted to Dhaka Central Jail from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur.

The Supreme Court on May 5 dismissed Nizami’s petition for reviewing its verdict that upheld his death penalty given by the International Crimes Tribunal-1 in 2014 for war crimes.
