Six Barisal city corporation councilors suspended

Staff Correspondent: The local government ministry has suspended six Barisal City Corporation ward councilors.

Barisal City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Md Wahiduzzaman confirmed that he had received the order from the ministry on Tuesday.

The suspended councillors are- Syed Akbar Hossain of Ward 7 (Kaunia), Harun ar Rashid of Ward 9 (Katpatti), Mir AKM Jahidul Kabir of Ward 18 (Battola), Firoze Ahmed of Ward 24 (Rupatali), Zia Uddin Sikder of Ward 25 (Rupatali Bus stand) and Farid Uddin Ahmed of Ward 26 (Harinaphulia).

Barisal City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Waheduzzaman confirmed the matter to risingbd.

He said that the ministry has ordered their suspension due to their indictment on charges of violence against the six in several court cases.

Following the issue, Farid Uddin Ahmed of Ward 26 said that he heard the matter. But, he did not receive any letter yet.
