Desk Report: The Prime Ministers of Bangladesh and India appeared before the press in a joint meet when a pin-drop silence exists in the Hyderabad House. Soon the silence disappeared as the presenter of the event urged the two leaders to 'step down'.
The presenter apparently wanted to mean to come one step front coming down from where they both were standing to deliver statements.
At a joint briefing after a bilateral meeting during which they agreed on 22 bilateral deals, Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina did a ceremonial signing on stage in front of the press.
After that, it was time for the two leaders to step off the elevated stage so that each could deliver their respective statements.
The two leaders were standing on the podium at the beginning of the conference.
While asking the two leaders to come together for a photo shoot, the presenter said, "May I request the two prime ministers to step down."
The wrong use of words made it seem as though the presenter was asking Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Hasina to 'resign from their posts'.
The entire room then burst into laughter. The two prime ministers also kept smiling looking at each other.
