5 injured as BSMMU boundary wall collapses

Staff Correspondent: At least five people have been injured as the boundary wall of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital in Dhaka collapsed.
The incident took place when the hospital’s boundary wall near the roadside footpath collapsed around Wednesday evening.
Among the injured, there were on duty ansar members, a nurse of the hospital and passers-by. But their names could not be known immediately.
Confirming the matter, BSMMU Director (Hospital) Brig Gen Md Abdullah-Al-Harun said, “The wall was damaged as it rained persistently for several days and then collapsed after leaning towards the roadside footpath. No major injuries were reported. All of them are being treated at the hospital.”
Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Sharif, duty officer at Shahbagh Police Station, said police immediately rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue work.
Maruf Hossain Sardar, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Ramna zone), is currently on the spot.
