BGMEA seeks year to shift Hatirjheel office

Economic Correspondent: Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has sought one year more to the court to shift its headquarter from the capital's Hatirjheel.
BGMEA president Siddiqur Rahmanm said this in a press conference at its auditorium on Saturday noon.
He said, "We requested the Supreme Court to postpone the demolition of the BGMEA office from Hatirjheel area for a year as we are not fully prepared to flatten such a big building right no. We needone year more to end construction work of the new building in Uttara."
"Hope, the court will accept the request considering millions of workers of the industry," he added.
In reply to query, he said, "We are respectful to the law. We have been repeatedly telling that we will shift the office once the new building is constructed. The construction work for new building is ongoing at a land allotted by the government. But it will take one more year. So, we sought time to the court."
