Khaleda Zia provided division

Staff Correspondent: BNP Chairperson who landed in jail for five years in a graft case has been provided division in accordance with court order.

The jail authorities arranged division for her upon receiving copy of the court order on Sunday.

Inspector General of Prisons Syed Iftekhar Uddin confirmed this on Sunday evening.

Earlier, Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the Special Court-5 in Dhaka ordered jail authority to provide BNP Chief Khaleda Zia as per the jail code on the day.

Later, lawyers handed over copy of the court order to jail authority at noon.

On February 8, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was taken to the old Dhaka central jail after the special court sentenced her to five years' imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

Besides, the court also sentenced Khaleda's eldest son and BNP's Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman among four to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Tk 2.10 crore each.
