Gold worth Tk 17 lakh seized at Dhaka airport

Staff Correspondent: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) arrested a person with 339 gram gold worth Tk 16,95,000 from Shahjalal International Airport on Friday.

The arrestee was identified as Md Masud Rana who came in from Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) by a flight of US Bangla Airlines (BS-314) on Friday morning.

The gold was recovered from inside a charger light hidden in a blanket, according to CIID.

CIID Director General Moinul Khan said, "Acting on a tip off, Customs officials followed Masud Rana. He primarily ruled out of carrying gold. But later  the gold was found in a charger light hidden in a blanket which Masud carried and arrested him."

A case was filed with Airport Police Station in this regard, Moinul Khan said.
