'ACC does not act for govt'

Staff Correspondent: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said, "I would like to tell you unequivocally that ACC does not act for any government. This anti-graft body is yours and of people."

Iqbal Mahmood came up with the remarks while speaking at the Sonak-Sojon, Yes-Yes Friends, YPack National Conference 2018 held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), Dhaka on Monday.

The ACC chairman said, "ACC alone cannot curb corruption. You all have to stay with us in our fight against corruption. If we derail, then you have to support us and bring us back… together we can work for the country."

"There is a lack of good governance in the country. Corruption is an obstacle to good governance. If we do not work unitedly to fight the corruption, it will not be possible to stamp out corruption from our country," he added.
