HC stays decision of freezing Robi's bank account

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has stayed decision of freezing all bank accounts of mobile operator Robi Axiata Ltd, slapped by National Board of Revenue (NBR).

The bench of Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order on Tuesday.

Barrister Tanjibul Islam moved for Robi while Deputy Attorney General S M Moniruzzaman represented the state in the court.

Later, Deputy Attorney General Moniruzzaman said, "An appeal petition will be filed with the Appellate Division against the stay order of HC."

Earlier on Monday, The National Board of Revenue froze the bank accounts of Robi Axiata Ltd, the country's second largest mobile operator, on allegations of dodging of Tk 18.72 crore in value-added tax and supplementary duty.
