Prof Zafar Iqbal stabbed on Sust campus

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: Professor Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal has been stabbed by an unknown miscreant on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) campus in Sylhet.

The miscreant carried out the attack on the renowned writer during a programme of the department of electrical and electronic engineering (EEE) around 5:30pm on Saturday.

Injured Zafar Iqbal has been taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Update of his physical condition could not be known immediately.

Witnesses and students said, "Zafar Iqbal attended a programme of EEE department as a guest. An unknown miscreant attacked on him with a knife and stabbed in crowd, leaving him injured."

Though the attacker could not be identified immediately, he was caught by the students.

When contacted over the matter, Sust Proctor Prof Zahir Uddin could not be reached on mobile phone.
