Nazrul laid to rest with state honour

Staff Correspondent: Freedom Fighter Nazrul Islam, who was killed in US-Bangla plane crash in Kathmandu, was laid to rest with state honour at Gorhanga graveyard in Rajshahi.

After Namaz-e-Janaza this noon, he was buried beside the grave of his wife Aktara Begum.

Nazrul was a resident of Uposhohor area in the city. His wife Akhtara Begum was also killed in the US-Bangla plane crash. Nazrul's body arrived home on Thursday due to complexity to identify victims.  



Earlier, the first Namaz-e-janaza was held around 10:00am at his native village in Gomostapur upazila of Chapainawabganj. Later, the body was taken to Rajshahi.

Rajshahi Sadar constituency MP Fazle Hossain Badsha, Metropolitan Awami League president AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, district parishad chairman Ali Sarkar, deputy commissioner (DC) SM Abdul Kader, among others, took part in the janaza.
