Another victim burnt in Pallabi blast dies

Staff Correspondent: A woman who was severely burnt at an explosion in the city's Pallabi area on Tuesday has died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday, raising the death toll into two.

Hasin Ara Khanam, wife of Yakub Ali, succumbed to her injuries at the DMCH burn unit around 8:45am.

Earlier, Ruhi, 3, succumbed to her injuries at the DMCH burn unit early Wednesday.

Five people, including Hasin Ara and her husband Yakub Ali, sustained burn injuries after an underground reservoir of a house exploded and caught fire in the city's Pallabi area on Tuesday.

The blast occurred when worker Hasan lit a candle inside the water tank while cleaning it.

All the victims were taken to the DMCH burn unit. The other victims are building owner Yakub Ali, Yeasmin, her daughter Ruhi and Hasan.

DMCH burn unit resident surgeon Partha Sankar Pal said Hasin ara suffered 95 percent burns while Hasan 32 percent, Yeasmin 41 percent and Yakub 70 percent.
