SC asks lower courts to write date in Bangla

Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court (SC) has come up with an instruction to the country’s lower courts to write date of verdict in Bangla side by side English.

SC Registrar General Dr Md Zakir Hossain issued a circular to this effect under the instruction Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain on Wednesday.

“We have undiluted respect and love of Bangla. Mentioning Bangla years and dates along with those in English in the verdicts is absolutely desired and required in order to show honour to Bangla. It has been noted by this court (Supreme Court) that Bangla years and dates are not mentioned in the judgments of the subordinate courts although English years and dates are cited in those judgments,” the SC registrar said in the circular.
