March 1 now ‘National Voters' Day’

Senior Correspondent: The government has decided to observe March 1 as the “National Voters' Day” every year from now on.

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office in the city on Monday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Cabinet Division Secretary (Coordination & Reforms) NM Ziaul Alam briefed reporters after the meeting.

March 1 has been announced as the “National Voters' Day” as the month of March is the month of our independence, Ziaul Alam said.

Asked, he said, “We have picked this day to observe as the “National Voters' Day” every year as we were about to lose our voting rights in this month.”
