Farmers Bank scam: ACC issues travel ban on 17

Staff Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a letter imposing travel on top officials of the Farmers Bank among 17 over graft charges.
The letter signed by Shamsul Alam, deputy director of ACC, was sent to the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Special Branch (SB) of Police on Tuesday.
According to the letter, ACC is investigating into an allegation of money embezzlement of several top officials of the Farmers Bank among 17 people. But there is information that the accused are trying to leave the country. So, a travel ban on them is necessary for the sake of investigation in this regard.
ACC also requested AIG of SB to take effective measures in this regard, the letter said.
The people who face travel ban were known as Mahabubul Haque Chisty (Babul Chisty), former chairman of the Farmers Bank's Audit committee, his wife Ruzi Chisty, son Rashedul Haque Chisty, daughter Rimi Chisty, Mazedul Haque Chisty, Rashedul Chisty's wife Farhana Ahmed, Farmers Bank MD and CEO A K M Shahim, DMD Abdul Motaleb Patwari, SEVP of the bank Gazi Salauddin, EVP Mohammad Jahangir Alam Majumdar, SVP Zia Uddin Ahmed, VP Lutful Haque, VP Md Monirul Haque, FVP Md Tafazzal Hossain, AVP Mohammad Shamsul Hassan Bhuiyan, AEO Mahbub Ahmed and EO Md Zakir Hossain.
