Attackers won't be spared: Obaidul Quader

Staff Correspondent: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has opined that the attack on Dhaka University vice-chancellor’s residence was pre-planned and the attackers will not be spared.
Obaidul Quader made came up with the assertion while talking to newsmen after visiting the vice-chancellor’s residence on Tuesday.
Terming the attack on Dhaka University vice-chancellor’s residence as barbaric, he said, similar attack took place in black night of March 25 in 1971 but the residence of VC was never attacked.
"Everything in the residence is destroyed like bedroom, bathroom and furniture. And the valuables were looted during the attack, Obaidul Quader said.
He also said, "It is proved that the attack was pre-planned as the close circuit cameras were shut at that time. Investigation is underway."
Mentioning the incident, Obaidul Quader said, the Prime Minister was awake till 4:00am on that night.
Putting question he said, "What was the connection of quota system with VC? Why such attack took place?"
Amid demonstrations in Shahbagh and adjacent areas for quota reform, some unknown attackers entered the vice-chancellor’s residence and vandalized it early Monday. Meanwhile, two microbuses and a motorcycle were torched during the attack.
