1.44kg gold, 22 mobile phone sets seized

Staff Correspondent: Customs Intelligence officials have seized 1.44 kg of gold worth Tk 70 lakh and 22 mobile phones from five passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday noon.

Dr. Sahidul Islam, Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID), confirmed this to risingbd.com.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of customs intelligence conducted a search on BG 248 coming from Dubai soon after it landed at the Dhaka airport via Sylhet. Later, the officials found the gold and mobile phones searching five passengers in the flight, he said.

The passengers are Anwarul, Jahangir, Ashraf, Forhad and Ariful.
