Sheikh Hasina gets Global Women's Leadership Award

Secretariat Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be honored with the Global Women’s Leadership Award for her outstanding leadership in advancing women education and women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh, Asia and Asia-pacific region.
 

The award, a lifetime honor, will be conferred to Sheikh Hasina by US-based NGO Global Summit of Women in Sydney during her next visit to Australia.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali disclosed this at a media briefing on Tuesday.

The premier will visit Australia from April 26 to April 28 at the invitation of the country’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, said the foreign minister.

The Global Summit of Women also extended an invitation to PM Sheikh Hasina to attend their programme.

"It's a lifetime recognition,” the foreign minister said, adding that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe got the award last year.

Besides, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and former Unesco Director General Irina Bokova were among the recipients of this award.

Sheikh Hasina will also hold a bilateral meeting with the Australian prime minister where they will discuss, human resources development, trade and investment, power and energy, agriculture, security, education and sports among others.
