5 shot dead while on way to join Shaktimaan's funeral

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: At least five people were shot to death while they were on way to join the funeral of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (MN Larma) leader Shaktimaan Chakma.
The deceased were identified as Tapan Jyoti Chakma, a convener of United People's Democratic Front (Democratic), Sujan Chakma, Pranab Chakma, Setu Chakma and their microbus driver Md Sajib.
Sources said that the victims were heading towards Betchhari area of Rangamati from Khagrachhari to attend the funeral. But, miscreants opened fire aiming them in the area around 12:00pm on Friday.
Confirming the matter, Md Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Naniarchar Police Station, said that the microbus carrying the people plunged into a roadside ditch in the area when miscreants opened fire aiming the microbus, leaving five dead on the spot and injured 12 others.
Later, on information, army persons and police forces from local camp rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.
The attack took place within 24 hours of killing of Shaktimaan Chakma, Naniarchar upazila chairman Shaktimaan Chakma. He was killed in a gun attack at his office on Thursday.
